Congratulations to all of the swimmers who competed at NCAAs this week. The NESCAC had some great showings including 5 event wins (out of 13 individual events in the meet). Here's a highlight of some of them.

John Dillon: Swimmer of the Meet on the men's side. Wins in the 100 (47.58) and 200 fly (1:45.01, NCAA Record) and a second place finish in the 200 back 1:47.27 in addition to a 1:39.1 200 free leadoff amid a number of other great relay swims. Led Middlebury to a 7th place finish in the meet. Not enough can really be said for how impressive his meet was.

Alex Fraser: Wins in the 200 and 500 free and 3rd place in the 100 free. 137.4 on the end of the 8 free relay. Clutch finishes to bring home his wins as he made big moves near the end of the races. One of only 3 men in the meet to win two events (Dillon and Turk were the others).

Ryan Lichtenfels: Winning the 1650 (Kenyon's first defeat in the event in 20 years) in impressive fashion, in addition to NESCAC record 3:55.4 400 IM for 3rd place and 5th place in the 500 free. His 138.6 leading off Amherst's second place 800 free relay would've placed him second in the event individually behind Fraser.

Gary Roberson: Three top 8 finishes, including 3rd place in the 200 free. He really surprised me with his speed, as the 200 free was a huge drop from previous years.

Ben Wampler: 2nd place in the 100 free, 6th in the 50.

Team totals were:
5. Amherst - 217
7. Middlebury - 180
9. Williams - 160
18. Tufts - 51
39. Conn College - 13

Nescac swimmers were very impressive on both the men and women's side too, with Stern, Toddhunter and Wilson winning 8 of 13 individual events...

The women in the conference provided the top three swimmers in the meet overall:

Logan Todhunter - Swimmer of the meet and winner of three events (100, 200 fly, 200 IM). Her 100 and 200 fly time were both NCAA records, with the 100 fly fast enough to get 16th at D1 NCAAs.

Kendra Stern - 200 Freestyle was the swim of the meet (she matched it on the end of the 8 free relay). 1:45.31 was good enough for 12th at D1 NCAAs. Georgia is the only school in D1 who couldn't have used her to improve their 800 free relay at D1s (144.99 split). Also won the 100 free in record style and got second in the 500 free in a very close race. Looked like she gained confidence as the week went on, and I'd love to see her swim a 500 where she went out with the authority that she swam with in the 200. Carried the Amherst relays to numerous top 8 finishes and the team to 6th overall

Caroline Wilson - Three wins with two national records. Swam arguably the hardest possible lineup of events and performed well every step of the way. Great race against Stern to gut out the finish and touch first.

Williams placed third overall as a team, with Kuster taking home Coach of the Year for their strong showing.

Top notch racing all around. Should have gone double-or-nothing on Stern v. Wilson: The Sequel.
