For real? I saw FB pictures of him partying with the team recently.

You got your facts messed up Breastroker33. The previous Gustie transfer you are referring to wasn't playing his cards right with the ladies which forced the transfer.

He lost in Risk so he decided to go to the U of M.

He won't last a year at the U of M. Gustavus would make more sense. He swam with Jeff Erickson in high school and looks to know a lot of the Gusties. Let Jon deal with his work-ethic.
Things went downhill for him after Tupac died.

Maybe its financial. The U may not be ideal for swimming, but its hard to turn down a better education for half the cost. Someone is going to have to pay 30k yearly in tuition. It's either the parents or the student through loans. No way would I want to pay off 120k after 4 years at GAC and a religon degree.

At the end of the day, paying 30 to 40k yearly to an average liberal arts college is just irresponsible.

Agreed. Ben Griggs last year had similar sprint times (a bit faster) but Griggs also had a good 200 free and 100 back, as far as I know Tony has neither. Maybe they can turn him into a pretty solid backstroker. The kid is like 6'3". How did Griggs do this year?

A factor was AP credits that didn't transfer. You only get credit for 4's and 5's at GAC while the U will accecpt 3s. However, unless its AP Physics or AP Chem or AP Bio, if you are getting 3's on your AP tests you should probably be taking the course over. A 3 on a AP Macro exam means you learned how to draw a supply and demand graph and that's it.

This is bizzare. Of all the things that make GAC and the U of M unique college/swimming experiences, it comes down to AP credits.

Where is swim4more in all of this? Didn't he say Challeen was going to GAC? Nashland, how do you know he's going to the U? Are you guys Bookface friends? Do you have any word on other GAC recruits?

Sucks for GAC if they lost him over the equivalent of not testing out of Spanish 1.

Did Griggs make the Big11 roster at the U?

Grigs did make the conference team, but he was swimming with a splint on his finger due to a bad finish in a sprint workout during practice.

His 100 backstroke time got considerably faster than from his time in HS. He might have been a 54 in HS @ the fastest and he was a 51 @ the U.

As to the chaleen situation, thats really unfortunate for GAC that he will not be attending, and over some test scores? Really? He should just take the lower level classes and collect an easy A.

Here's a 3rd grade math question for you, swim4more.

Given: Student scores a 3 on 4 different AP exams.
Given: College A gives full credit for scores 3 and above
Given: College A charges 900 per course
Given: College B gives full credit for scores 4 and above
Given: College B charges 4000 per course

Proove: College A is the better choice.

Proof: U of M, college A, 4 credits = $0
GAC, college B, 4 credits = $16,000

MAC, you need to remember that 1 credit at GAC is equivalent to 4 credits at a standard institute. So 4 U of M credits equals 1 GAC credit.

Wait. Didn't you transfer from the U of M to Gustavus? Explain.
