Correct. I believe he was a 57. My friend Paul Huynh (U swimmer) got 2nd that year, at like 58 or 59.

I'm not sure Max got under a minute at the high school meet, if memory serves the dude from Moorehead (Schindler?) got first with a 57, Paul got second with a low 58, and then there was a mess of guys right at a minute (including Chaska's Greg Worm who broke a minute in prelims but ended up 7th with like a low 1:01 - in fact I am almost positive Max just touched him out).

Max got a lot better his sophomore year in college. I think he swam Mach 3 Fliers in the summer and bulked up. He was good, but not dominant his FY.

Where if Schindler end up for college? His younger brother looked at Coast Guard (d3) but ended up at UND. They actually turned him into a breastroker like his brother.

I realize this is off topic but what isn't off topic in this forum at this point?
Frank: Look, I didn't go to Vietnam just to have pansies like you take my freedom away from me.
Dee: You went to Vietnam in 1993 to open up a sweatshop!
Frank: ...and a lot of good men died in that sweatshop!

Ah yes, it was Schindler, my mistake. I seem to get those two mixed up sometimes.
Things went downhill for him after Tupac died.
